Claudia Pond Eyley will give an Artist Talk on her exhibition Reflections of the Time followed by a screening of her film Departure and Return - The Final Journey of the Rainbow Warrior at the Waiheke Community Cinema.
Departure and Return takes us through the story of the Rainbow Warrior – an old trawler, brought back into service by Greenpeace to campaign against whaling, nuclear waste dumping, and nuclear testing. In the film, Claudia Pond Eyley talks to six women who played a role in the nuclear free movement over the years: Susi Newborn, Anna Horne, Peggy Finlay, Margaret Mills, Bunny McDiarmid, Jane Cooper, Hanne Sorensen, Hilari Anderson, Brenna Gotje.
Tickets are limited and there will be light refreshments included. $15 each.
Claudia's exhibition is a collection of recent silkscreen and painted composites on perspex.
A founding member of Visual Artists Against Nuclear Arms and a member of the Association of Women Artists, Claudia has exhibited widely international and within Aotearoa, with works held in the collection of the Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki and the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa.
Reflections of the Time operates as a playful prism into Pond Eyley’s identity, which she describes as reflecting “… the many aspects of being a feminist woman painter. Working in isolation, the images reflect the many aspects of life.”
